		<itunes:summary>Week 6 clue post

Dave Winer makes a plea at the Public Media 2007 conference last week in Boston. He urged public broadcasters to bring a greater diversity of voices into presidential election coverage and to learn from the media's mistakes in the run up to the Iraq war while covering the ginning up of a conflict with Iran.

More:Dave's blog posts about the appearance. Google search.Links to the full talk -- mp3 and bittorrent.ZDNet's Dan Farber posts about Dave's gravitas and the democratization of media.Dave's Morning Coffee Notes podcasts.
Jason Calacanis labeled the style "slow Dave" in his podcast this week, and played his favorite bit from the speech. Dave did reason with the broadcasters so gently and soulfully that even right-leaning journalists and citizens will feel the sincerity and be moved to let the words sink in.

For techies who aren't interested in politics and journalism, Dave makes a pitch for a new kind of podcast listening and making device during the first 10 minutes of the talk.

I'm enclosing another clip from the QA session, about six minutes of Dave talking with WBGH Morning Stories host Tony Kahn about produced-for-podcast programs, pros teaching amateurs to roll their own shows, and the debate trap. You'll also hear Doc Searls who shared the stage with Dave, introducing him and chiming in with a few gems. You really should listen to the whole talk.Download Week 6 more</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Week 5 clue postJimmy Wales, co-founder of Wikipedia, talked about the Muppet Wiki and a bunch of other interesting things on net@night, a Twit podcast hosted by Amber MacArthur and Leo LaPorte.

I'm enclosing another clip from the show, where Wales talks about alternative funding methods. The guy just doesn't want to have ads on Wikipedia, and I wish people would stop trying to force the issue. Not everything has to be about ads and business uber alles and cashing in because you can. To paraphrase a commenter on Jason Calacanis's most recent push , "Just leave him alone, Jason!" I don't know, just guessing really, but it seems to just kill Jason to see all that reputation and traffic and leave it unexploited? What do you think?

I think it's cool that Wales and Co. are looking into things like selling trivia games and thinking beyond the ad model, which might not hold up in the long run anyway, politics and modes of capitalism aside. Listen to the whole interview. There's more about the greatly exaggerated rumors of the death of Wikipedia and about fundraising early on in the conversation.

net@night is taped on Sunday nights. You can listen, chat and ask questions live on Talkshoe. Amber's a natural. She's got that nice fresh genuinely friendly way about her that's very easy to like.Download Week 5 more</itunes:summary>

		<itunes:summary>Week 4 clue post
Jon Udell talks with Marty Collins, a marketer in Microsoft's architecture group, about a way that PR types might bring value to the conversation in the blogosphere: by helping work narrators become better communicators.

Udell recently left InfoWorld to join Microsoft, and his new podcast is produced as part of the company's Channel 9 offerings for developers.

I'm enclosing another nice bit from the bi-directional interview, in which Jon answers the question, "How do bloggers like to be approached?"

Do listen to the whole interview. I got a kick out of how the marketer kept slipping into old marketing speak but, to her credit, correcting herself as soon as she heard how it sounded.

<itunes:summary>Faith Salie, on the new public radio program, Fair Game, refers to a remark by Dick Cheney's remark in an interview with Wolf Blitzer. (I really tried to link to the CNN.com for this but darned if I could work out a way to put in a direct link to the video.)

Here's the surrounding context of the clue clip, explaining why she went off on the theme of having the "stomach" for things.

I like Salie. She's funny (she's a comedian), and sees things in covering the news that you don't hear from the stock sources of satire. She has a young hip style; I think it's the vibe Amanda Congdon is going for.

One of the nice things about podcasts of public radio programs is you can hear shows not broadcast in your area. We have one of the best stations in the country here in Chicago, but no station can air all the good stuff. Download Week 3 context</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Guy Kawasaki, in an interview with Jennifer Jones on the Marketing Voices podcast, says what he'd do if he were the chief marketer for a company that doesn't get new media. (He'd quit.)

Listen to the whole 20-minute interview on the Podtech site.

The 1.5-minute clip included here expands on the short snip given in the clue, but the entire response to the question runs some 4-5 minutes. It's worth a listen.
